Terms of service

01The service

Averil is an AI security engineer. It connects to the tools you choose, investigates security issues, explains what it finds, and prepares fixes. Averil is in early access, so features may change as we build it, and we will tell you before we remove anything you rely on.

02Connecting your systems

You may only connect systems that you own or are authorized to connect, and you are responsible for the access you grant.

Averil changes something in your systems only after a person on your team approves that exact action. You are responsible for reviewing what you approve.

03Your data

Your data stays yours. You give us permission to use it only to provide and secure Averil for you, as described in our Privacy policy. We do not use your data to train AI models.

You can export your case records at any time. If you close your account, we delete your data as the Privacy policy describes.

04Acceptable use

Do not use Averil to test or access systems you are not authorized to, to break the law, to attack or overload Averil or other services, or to copy or reverse engineer Averil. We may suspend accounts that do, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

05AI findings

Averil shows its evidence and says when it is unsure, but its findings and suggested fixes can be wrong or incomplete. Check them before you act. Averil reduces risk; it cannot make any system completely secure, and we do not promise it will find every issue.

06Plans and payment

The Indie Hacker plan costs nothing. Team and Enterprise plans are priced per company and set out in an order form or invoice, which takes precedence over these terms where they differ. Fees do not include taxes.

07Confidentiality

We keep your non-public information confidential and use it only to provide Averil. Please do the same with non-public information about Averil that we share with you, such as early features and pricing.

08Ending the agreement

You can stop using Averil and close your account at any time. We may end these terms if you seriously breach them and do not fix the breach within 30 days of our notice, or right away where needed to protect Averil or others.

09Disclaimers and liability

Except as stated in these terms or an order form, Averil is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

To the extent the law allows, neither of us is liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or data, and our total liability under these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $100 if you are on the Indie Hacker plan.

10General

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Toronto, Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute.

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top and tell customers about significant changes before they take effect.
