← All comparisonsAveril vs Claude Security

Claude Security reviews your code. Averil takes the case all the way to a fix you can trust.

Claude Security is a strong reviewer of source code. It reads the repository, not your running systems, and marks a finding fixed when the fix ships in code. Averil works across code, AWS, Google Workspace and your deploy platforms, and closes a case only after checking your live systems.

Where Averil is better

Beyond the repositoryClaude Security reads your checkout. I also look at AWS, Google Workspace, Railway and Supabase, so a leaked key, a public database or a former employee who still has access gets the same care as a bug in code.
Fixed means fixed in productionClaude marks a finding fixed when the fix lands in code. I close a case only after checking that your live systems match the fix.
Proof before I bother youI report a code finding only when a failing test shows it is real, so you don’t spend time on maybes.
No Enterprise plan requiredThe hosted Claude Security service needs Claude Enterprise, a 20-seat minimum and a premium seat per user. I have a free plan and price Team and Enterprise per company.
The case lives in SlackClaude can post new findings to Slack by webhook. With me, the Slack thread is the case: evidence, decisions and the final check are all in one place.

Where Claude Security is strong

  • Deep, reasoning-based review on Anthropic’s most capable models. Anthropic says its team used it to find over 500 vulnerabilities in open-source code.
  • Covers the whole coding loop: self-review while Claude writes code, an on-demand scan, pull request review and a hosted service.
  • Tracks findings in code: it marks them fixed when the fix ships and reopens them if the issue comes back.
  • Works with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and self-hosted Git, with an API, webhooks and an MCP connector.

Which should you choose?

Choose Claude Security ifyou have a security team on Claude Enterprise and want deep, model-driven review of large codebases on GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket.
Choose Averil ifnobody owns security yet, your risk sits across code, AWS, Google Workspace and your deploy platforms, and you want each issue taken to a fix that is checked in production.
Use both ifyour developers already use Claude Code. Its security plugin catches problems while they write; I handle what reaches your repos, cloud and accounts. Claude can also ask me about open cases through my MCP server.
